Backup in the cloud The future of data protection [Infographic]

Around 2.4 billion people around the world now use the Internet and there are over 630 million websites. It is particularly astonishing that 90 percent of the data was only produced in the last two years. According to forecasts, the number of Internet users is set to rise even further by 2016 – to a total of 3.4 billion users. As a result, for better or worse, the generated traffic will also increase. In 2011 a total of 1.8 zettabytes of data accumulated. This year one expects 2.7 zettabytes.

Use the cloud for storage

In 2011, cloud services weren’t too widespread. Only 7 percent of consumer content was stored in the cloud. That should change, however. By 2016, it is expected that 36 percent of the content will be stored in the cloud. Since a large number of people have a smartphone these days, these technologies have been combined with cloud computing – the mobile cloud. With many apps, data is already stored in cloud solutions.

Perform data backup

Many computer owners still do not perform regular backups. This causes data to be lost. Almost half of all companies experience data loss every year. If data is lost, it can be very expensive to restore. You should therefore back up your data as often as possible. In the future, this will probably take place in the cloud more and more often.
